Wintermission II

General Rules

  • Game Settings: 1v1, 4 Stocks, 8:00 Time Limit, items OFF
  • All matches are best-of-3, with the exception of Winners/Losers/Grand Finals, which are best-of-5.
  • There ARE stage bans during Winners/Losers/Grand Finals (stage striking and DSR are also still in effect).
  • Stalling with moves such as Jigglypuff’s Rising Pound or Peach’s Wall Bomber is banned.
  • Pause option is disabled in the game menu. If left on, accidental pausing mid match forfeits a stock.
  • You may not choose any stage you have won on during a set, unless agreed by both players. (Dave’s Stupid Rule)
  • A tie is determined by most stocks, and then if still tied, by percentage. If percentage is tied, the match is fully replayed.
  • If a match ends with Ganondorf’s Flame Choke, the initiator of the move is awarded the win.

Stage Selection and Match Procedure

  • On the first match of every set, players will begin the match procedure by selecting their characters. Either player may choose to Double Blind Pick. In this case, each player secretly tells a third player their character before picking with the third player verifying their selections.
  • Players then play rock-paper-scissors (best-of-one), and the winner may choose to strike first or second.
  • Players then strike Starter stages in the following order:
    • Player 1 strikes 1 stage
    • Player 2 strikes 2 stages
    • Player 1 strikes 1 stage
  • For the second or third games of each set, the winning player bans 2 stages, and the loser selects from any of the remaining Starter or Counterpick stages.
  • For games two and beyond, players select stage first, then the winner can announce a character change, then the loser can announce a character change.
  • Players may choose to play on a banned stage if both parties agree (Gentleman’s Rule).
